"My Night Jamming With METALLICA" By IMAGIKA's ELENA REPETTO
July 10, 2002IMAGIKA bassist Elena Repetto, one of the two contest winners that got to jam with METALLICA at the latter's party on Saturday, July 6th to belatedly celebrate the launch of the group's new web site, posted the following account of the unique experience via IMAGIKA's official web site:
"On Saturday, July 6, I was invited to attend as the guest of my friend, Elisia, METALLICA's 'Re-Launch Party'. This was a private party that was thrown for about 100 very lucky METALLICA fans who entered and won a contest last year.
"The party was fully catered, and everyone got tours of the METALLICA headquarters. The band hung out all night talking to fans, giving autographs, doing interviews, taking pictures, etc.
"There were also bass 'auditions'. About 12 people signed up, and each of us got to jam along (with the CD) to a portion of a song of our choice. I started off the 'rounds', playing 'Seek & Destroy'. There were a couple of rounds, and at the end, two winners: a guy named Andrew from So. Cali and MYSELF!!!
"So, Andrew and I then got to jam a song with METALLICA! (I played 'Seek & Destroy'). It was pretty damn cool!!! I have been a fan of the band since I was about 12 years old, and they are one of the reasons I am playing today. Cliff Burton was (and still is) such a major influence to me, and to be able to play 'Seek and Destroy' with James, Kirk, and Lars was an experience I will NEVER forget.
"And to think, just a year ago, IMAGIKA recorded 'Four Horsemen' for a METALLICA compilation for our record label, WWIII. I had no idea that a year later I would actually be jamming a song with the guys!!!!
"In addition to winning the 'audition' and jamming w/ the guys, I also got to take home the bass I played!!! It is a beautiful ESP Ltd. bass, and of course, I made sure it was signed by James, Kirk, and Lars.
"God...I could go on forever here. It was such a great experience, and I am truly grateful to Elisia for inviting me to the party. The Metalli-Crew and Fan Club people are all extremely cool, and, of course, so are James, Kirk, and Lars. I have a lot of respect for them, and I witnessed first-hand how much they value and care about their fans & supporters.
"After 18 years of playing bass, this was definitely a highlight for me, and I
will carry this memory with me forever. If you are interested in checking
